The day is long today

Long enough to lie by your side all day

The downpour just ceased, the cool breeze still lingering

We begin with distant emerald peaks

Then speak of how we're like mice in caves

No screen of silk to shield our gaze

Bamboo leaves sway, autumn's green yet to fade

The day is long today

Long enough to wait a while

Before we take from the reflections in the lake

A few water chestnuts for our own sake
